I am a freelance dressage coach, trained in the UK by Patrice Edwards, Charles de Kunffy and most recently Arne Koets. From all of them, I learned how to use a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application of the traditional exercises and figures to develop horses to their full magnificence.
I help riders first to perfect their seat, which assists the horses to find their best balance, and then we use the arena patterns and school exercises to develop the horse’s strength and elasticity. My special interest is demystifying the age-old principles of dressage and making their magic accessible to the amateur rider.
I teach all levels and style of rider and horse. I aim to support and inspire riders and horses to realise their full potential and enjoy the learning. My aim is to help owners train light, happy, responsive and sound horses to enjoy for a lifetime of fun .
Private or pairs lessons at your property or clinics to be arranged at suitable venues – watch this space. Prices from $70 per session in the Eurobodalla region. I am happy to travel further but mileage rate will apply.
Patrice Edwards was born and raised in Bermuda. As a precociously talented teenager, she came to the attention of Col Gutowski but financial constraints prevented a competitive career. She moved to the UK where she passed her AI exam and then became a founding member of the TTT, where she was taught regularly by Molly Sievewright and Charles de Kunffy.
Charles de Kunffy needs no introduction. He taught regularly at Dovecote stables as well as the TTT and, with Patrice, I attended his clinics consistently for 5 years.
Arne Koets is a professional jouster, expert horseman and formally a rider and curator at Fürstliche Hofreitschule in Bockeburg. He is a world authority in Rossfechten, the art of mounted combat. Arne’s speciality is in applying the traditional aspects of Classical Dressage within its functional context, including mounted fencing, jousting and Garrocha work. He teaches a form of riding that he terms Historical Dressage; which centres on seat, energy and lightness of aids and is pertinent for any type of riding.
